Analysis Time! (attn: Music Theorists)

I’ve been composing this section of music (yes..for a follow-up to More Than Ever), and in writing it.. I decided to write out the harmonic structure horizontally based on what I composed from the guitar to get a better grasp on what was actually happening.

I made a fantastic music theory dork discovery!

 The major third of each 1st chord in each section is the 1st chord of the following section

ex. ( E -> G#/Ab -> C  ->)

Coincidentally, the 2nd chord of each section is the dominant of the 1st chord in the following section, not only giving the sections power movement by major thirds, but also by secondary dominant from section to section in addition to the obvious powerful minor 2nd movement within each section. Once realizing this..I realized why the portion of my composition was so functional.

 There’s no use hiding this information from you guys, you can’t copyright a chord progression 😉
