As a composer, It’s amazing how much the music you listen to affects the music you write. It’s also amazing how much the music you used to listen to always shows up in the music you write.  Such as these past couple of praise & worship songs I’ve written, “Kneel and Submit” and “Become”… both completely uplifting and positive; however, really heavy, sometimes technical, chromatic in places, heavily orchestrated AND over-the-top guitar solos…    And I know there’s Christian music like this already around (Skillet, HB, Neal Morse, Becoming the Archetype), but when YOU are the writer/composer of all the music..and in the past year what you listen to has gone between Opeth & Hillsong.. you feel change. you react to change.
